A week ago, I dug up a black walnut root at the corner of Elm Street and Burnside.
In order to remove it, I needed to break it up into six or seven chunks that I could manage to roll up a couple of boards into the back of my truck.
I’d wanted to harvest this root for several years after having such good luck making carvings from this tree. A sampling of sculptures from this walnut tree:

And finally, yesterday we mounted the new weathervane at Renee and Steve’s farm estate in Kinderhook. I think her nickname is Gabriella.
